The Wamsutta Club

Our Club was founded in 1866 as a “New York style” social club, a baseball club for businessmen. The Club is presently a city club situated in the stately mansion of James Arnold, better known for his gift of the Arnold Arboretum to the city of Boston.

The Wamsutta Club is primarily a luncheon and dinner club in the New Bedford business district, with one squash court, pool, billiard and ping pong tables, lodging rooms and six function rooms, all in an elegant traditional setting.

The club is a private membership and is operated through an elected board, appointed committees, and a club manager.

You can find us in the heart of downtown New Bedford, Wamsutta Club is located in the James Arnold Mansion which is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It provides a private comfortable and elegant setting for our members and their guests. It reflects an era of yesteryear that no one else can offer. Complimented by grand fireplaces, spectacular chandeliers, and warm comfortable ambiance.
